Parent Home learning task 'A million words or less'

School Picnic at Wenderholm beach - Friday 21st February, 2020

PLEASE NOTE this has been postponed until a later date.
Thursday 2 April 1:45pm-2:45pm
Friday 3 April 9-10am

We would like to welcome you and your family into our space to take a tour with your child, in what we call an 'Open Space' session.

We are offering 2 session times, where you can come into our space and have a look at the learning we have done and are doing.  This is not compulsory for families, but an additional opportunity to come in and have your child show you their home class, their book work and what we do.  No bookings are required, just turn up.

and an Extra for Experts Values Task Board for the children to work
through independently over the course of the next 9 weeks.

Term 3, 2019

Week 10


  • Ag day notice - LZ2 - Please view this letter, as it mentions the items that your child needs to prepare and create for the upcoming Ag day in Term 4. Some parts are to be made at home and some parts are to be brought to school - thank you :)
  • End of Term prizegiving Friday 27th of September, at 1:30 pm.
  • Ag Day Grocery Collection donations- This week's theme is Rainy Day
  • Cricket Skills - Wednesday 25th September
  • Honey orders need to be in the office by 3pm this Friday. $40 for 1 Litre of Manuka Honey.


Week 9

  • Our science fair projects will be available to be viewed in the school hall on Thursday from 12pm-4pm.
  • Winter Sports Prizegiving - Thursday 19th September, 1:30pm in the hall.
  • Yummy stickers are due in by Monday 23rd September so please keep collecting stickers off your fruit. Forms can be downloaded and printed from the yummy website. We get some awesome sports gear through this promotion so please keep collecting.
  • Full school assembly, Friday 20th September at 9am.

Week 8

  • Science boards or card should be at school by now as the children will be publishing their findings and research this week. Science Fair Projects will be finished by Friday. Any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.
  • Tu Maia Festival- Kapa Haka children- Friday 13th September
  • The vets will be at school on Friday 13th September at 2.30 to administer the 2nd vaccine for AG Day lambs and goats. Please let Mrs Mowat in Room1 know if you will be bringing your lamb or goat in for this.
  • NEW calendar art notices with the new dates will be coming home with your child this week.

  • Calendar Art is now available to purchase. Orders will now open on Wednesday the 11th September and will close on the 17th of September. You are more than welcome to pop in and view your child's artwork that is on display for their Calendar Art.
  • Scholastic Book orders are due in by 3pm Monday 2nd September (TOMORROW)
  • Ag Day forms are due in by Friday 6th September. Please ensure your child has returned theirs to one of their teachers.
  • Ag Day Grocery Collection- Thanks to those who have donated so far! This week's them is Health and Beauty (nail polish, cotton buds, soap, shampoo etc). Keep the donations coming :). 100 HOUSE POINTS for each item that is brought in!!
  • Full School Assembly - 6th September

Week 6


  • Daffodil Day Friday 30th August
  • Please ensure your child has returned their Ag Day form as soon as possible



























  • This term we have a school-wide Science Fair in Week 9. Purchasing of Science display boards is optional and you may wish to investigate as follows - Warehouse stationery, Office Max or Educational essentials. Otherwise, we will provide paper for displays.


  • Week 5


    • Home Learning sheets are now only available through the LZ2 Blog
    • Rippa Tournament on Thursday 22nd August.
    • Cross Country Friday 23rd August
    • To help with the car-park this week please ensure if you park in the drop-off zone you do not park and leave your vehicle - please be considerate to other parents.

    AG Day Grocery Collection
    • This weeks collection is Candy Land. Donations of Marshmallows, bags of Lollies, Lolly Pops etc greatly appreciated. Please place in the bags provided in each class. Next week is Fancy or Fun (goods for celebrating).

    AG Silent Auction & Sponsorship Opportunities
    • We need auction items for our Silent Auction. If you have a business or know of a business that would like to donate vouchers/products please contact Paula in the office plucas@dairyflat.school.nz. We also have a number of categories up for Sponsorship this year. Please see the attached form if you are interested in sponsoring one of the animal rings. prizes etc.

    AG Day Chickens
    • If you have ordered chicks from the school they will be delivered next Tuesday 13th August. If you are normally a bus student you can not take your chicks home on the bus.


    • Lots of us have been logging on to Mathletics and wondering when we will get certificates. Here is how many points you need for each leveled certificate:

    1000 points weekly  

    5 bronze for a silver - equals 1000 points per week (5th bronze and a silver)

    4 silver for a gold certificate

    Asia Experience Day Years 5&6
    Where:     Orewa Primary School
    When:       Week 10  Tuesday 2 July (9:00 am - 11:00)
    Time:       Depart Dairy Flat School 9:00 am
         Return Dairy Flat School 11:30
    Wear: Full school uniform including school sweatshirt and closed in shoes
    Who:        LZ1 Year 5&6 AND LZ2 Year 5
    Transport: Bus cost $4.00 (If you have paid your Activity fee please ignore)


    As part of the Language Curriculum the language teachers from Orewa College have been teaching our Year 5 and 6 students Mandarin in Terms 1 and 2 and Japanese in Terms 3 and 4. The students will be able to experience and immerse themselves into Asian culture by enjoying multiple performances by college students and other organisations.


    The students will participate in each cultural activity accompanied by their class teachers or parent helpers. (Calligraphy, paper flower, Octopus ball tasting, Anime drawing, Face making, Chopstick Race, Bamboo dance, Sugar Art, Tai Chi, Spring roll tasting, Jian zi, and  Lantern making).
    Please complete the permission slip below and return by Tuesday 25 June.
